The Hummingbird Sanctuary

An uplifting circle to help us fly higher effortlessly.

Here, we rest and frolic rather than burning out.

A hummingbird in a rhinoceros cage

It all started because of a typical work email that knocked me off kilter. It shouldn’t have; there was nothing special about it. In fact, it was its very quotidian nature that triggered a paroxysm of ‘get me out of here.’ That’s when my husband said: "I've been watching you for 15 years now, and you're like a hummingbird in a rhinoceros cage." I laughed. Then I cried. Because he was right.

"But there are other hummingbirds," he said. "You could band together."

Yes! I thought through tears. There are other hummingbirds. And I want to hang out with them.

What is the Hummingbird Sanctuary?

It's a supportive, playful community where we unlearn all of our worst habits–perfectionism, addiction to productivity, putting everyone else's needs first–and relearn the two most important life skills: rest and play.

What's inside the Sanctuary

  • Two improvised Cello Journeys each month with guided listening prompts

  • One live Zoom gathering per month (“Charm of Hummingbirds”):
A playful space to check in, connect, and re-prioritize joy.

  • The Hummingbird Tune: Our Private Substack Thread:
Where you can always drop in when you're surrounded by too many thick-skinned beasts. Intimate, humorous, supportive conversation.

  • Occasional Guest Events + Spot Coaching

You might be a hummingbird if…

  • You’ve spent a lifetime being told you're “too sensitive.

  • You can’t rest until you’ve overgiven… and it’s breaking you.

  • You’re burned out from overachieving and underfeeling.

  • You long for beauty, stillness, and solitude but also need meaningful connection.

  • You want a space to be exactly as you are, without performing.

  • You dream of flying backward, doing aerial tricks, and pursuing your own brand of creative madness.
