Musical Alchemy

deep listening to support emotional processing

Session Overview

Processing emotions and receiving insight through the somatic shortcut of music

In this experiential 60-minute (or 90-minute) session, I guide participants through deep listening and visualization exercises.

At the heart of the session, I tune into the energy and emotion in the room and translate it into spontaneous, improvised music. Together, we explore how this contributes to:

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Somatic processing

  • Sitting with emotional paradox

  • Receiving insight

Practitioners are invited to integrate deep listening and music into their own practice, even if they are not musicians.

Scientific & Somatic Foundations
  • Music activates every part of the brain, influencing not only the nervous system but also heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure, and hormonal rhythms

  • Neurons begin to fire at the frequency of the music, making the body and brain instruments of transformation

  • Music pre-dates language evolutionarily—it’s our most primal form of communication

  • Emotional processing becomes possible without verbal naming, particularly for grief, trauma, and inner conflict

Technical & Practical Requirements
  • piano bench

  • speaking microphone

  • indoor space with reasonably good acoustics

  • optional: yoga mats and space for participants to lie down and move more freely

  • can be offered for up to 1000 participants (normal seating) or up to 100  for the yoga mat/movement option

About me

Elena Cheah

I am a classically trained cellist, certified coach, and founder of Musical Alchemy. I collaborate with transformational leaders and retreat hosts around the world to offer intuitive music as a tool for emotional processing, energetic release, and intuitive insight.

My work is rooted in the belief that music is not just an art form, but a healing modality, one that speaks directly to the parts of us that language cannot reach.
